## Method

Peak ΔP = 4Vmax²

Use the measurement units shown below. Some fields apply only to a selected method or condition; follow the interactive tool’s method choices. The interactive tool keeps missing measurements incomplete and provides its method-specific results and reference context.

## Measurements and acquisition

### Peak pulmonic velocity m/s

Continuous-wave Doppler

- Align the CW cursor as parallel as possible to the jet.
- Acquire a dense, complete envelope without truncation.
- Measure the highest absolute velocity on the selected envelope.

- Peak-gradient severity bands · Table 11 · p. 20

Mild, moderate and severe valvular pulmonic stenosis bands are peak velocity <3, 3–4 and >4 m/s, respectively, with corresponding peak gradients <36, 36–64 and >64 mmHg.

- Acquisition · §V.B.1.1 · pressure-gradient acquisition, pp. 19–20

Peak gradient from the simplified Bernoulli equation applied to the highest well-aligned continuous-wave velocity across the pulmonic valve; interrogate multiple windows and exclude subvalvular or supravalvular obstruction before attributing the gradient to the valve.
